Frankie's: Something Genuinely Different

Frankie's Fine Foods has existed for just under eight years, and its raison d'etre is to provide customers with a lunchtime alternative that offers something different from the many other restaurants in the area. The store is tucked away between St. Paul’s and Blackfriars and does not advertise, so all business is generated by word-of-mouth. The business prospers from its “Unique Selling Proposition,” providing customers with something genuinely different from what is available elsewhere. There is certainly nowhere else in the area that can sell you a pita bread filled with anything from thai fishcakes to halloumi cheese!

Husband and wife owners Frank and Thanyika have mixed ethnic backgrounds and are influenced by cuisines originating from India, Iraq, Thailand and Malaysia. Add to this their many years of living, travelling and sampling foods in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and other locales, and what you get is a lunchtime menu as diverse as anything you might see in any of the upmarket fusion restaurants in London.

Frank spent many years working behind a desk in areas such as PR, marketing and sales and always dreaded the lunchtime experience of standing in line for a something dull and unimaginative. He vowed that if ever he had his own store, he would sell sandwiches and foods that were worth waiting for, whether meat or vegetarian. He travelled to New York, Toronto and across Europe to experience for himself the kind of foods sold and was impressed with the range, quality and affordability of lunchtime options available to office workers in other places. The UK clearly had a long way to go, but it is finally making some progress.

Deliveries from Frankie's to local offices take the form of pita bread sandwiches and hot meals and delicious wrap/pita platters can be provided for meetings and buffets. If necessary, Frankie's can also undertake catering for functions and events, providing staff and everything from canapĂ©’s to Thai/continental meals.

If that is not enough to sway you, Frankie's was this year nominated by LBC radio and the City AM newspaper as one of the best sandwich shops in the city. Come see why for yourself!
